12/27/13 BIBLE PASSAGE (Luke 4:1-30)

From Luke:

Satan tested Jesus Christ with food immediately after he concluded his 40 days of marathon prayer and fasting. The enemy understood that the Messiah was hungry and he attempted to seize the moment to trap him. Meanwhile, Satan did not only test Jesus for flesh satisfaction, he also tested him for power greed and worldly cares. Meanwhile, Jesus conquered all Satan’s plots despite his physical craving.

The scripture reported how Jesus overcame Satan’s temptations and said, “Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, being tempted for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry. And the devil said to Him, “If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.” But Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’”  Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said to Him, “All this authority I will give you, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. Therefore, if you will worship before me, all will be yours.” And Jesus answered and said to him, “Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ “Then he brought Him to Jerusalem, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here. For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you,’ and, ‘In their hands they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’” And Jesus answered and said to him, “It has been said, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God’ ” (Luke 4:1-12).

Lesson:

Children of God are not to fear Satan, but we are to refute him with the use of Jesus’ authority. Satan will definitely flee our presence if we stand our ground against him. The enemy cannot withstand the authority that Jesus Christ has transferred unto us. He trembles when anyone mentions the name of Jesus Christ. In fact, the scripture has emphasized that Satan must flee when Jesus’ name is mentioned. It is written, “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9-11).

Prayer:

Common Satan, I rebuke you in Jesus’ name! I command you to flee from my presence. I challenge you with the authority in the name of Jesus Christ to remove your hands from my family, career, health, spiritual life, and other areas of my life. I destroy all your power in my life, and I acclaim my victory over you. Today, I command my triumphant over you, I subject you to my authority, and I overcome you – perpetually. For in the name of Jesus Christ I have exercised my authority. Amen.
