12/28/13 BIBLE PASSAGE (Deuteronomy 11,12,13)
God enlightened Israelites not to mistake Egypt for Canaan (Promised Land). The two countries did not have the same setting; neither did they have the same value. The Promised Land was far better than Egypt – where Israelites have escaped. God said “For the land which you go to possess is not like the land of Egypt from which you have come, where you sowed your seed and watered it by foot, as a vegetable garden; but the land which you cross over to possess is a land of hills and valleys, which drinks water from the rain of heaven, a land for which the Lord your God cares; the eyes of the Lord your God are always on it, from the beginning of the year to the very end of the year” (Deuteronomy 11:10-12).
Christians are serving the same God that led Israelites out of Egypt, and brought them to the Promised Land. God who is ever in existence maintains common principles with his children throughout the world. He remains resolute to his commitments for his children. He will perform whatever he has promised them – at all cost! Nothing whatsoever would be able to limit God’s power, and nothing can stop him from blessing his children. God’s sons and daughters will continue to enjoy his safety, grace, and goodness – in as much they remain faithful to him. Therefore, all people are encouraged to maintain good relationship with God, so that they can benefit from his immeasurable goodness.
Dear God, please take me to the Promised Land that you have preserved for me. Enable me to maintain good relationship with you, so that I can remain qualified for your benefits. Let me live long to enjoy your benefits in the land of the living. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
