12/30/13 BIBLE PASSAGE (Deuteronomy 14,15,16)

From Deuteronomy:

God instructed Israelites to understand the principle of paying tithes – very well. He said, “You shall truly tithe all the increase of your grain that the field produces year by year” (Deuteronomy 14:22). God further simplified that the tithe of any income could be converted into currency, and be duly paid to him. He said, “But if the journey is too long for you, so that you are not able to carry the tithe, or if the place where the Lord your God chooses to put His name is too far from you, when the Lord your God has blessed you, then you shall exchange it for money, take the money in your hand, and go to the place which the Lord your God chooses” (Deuteronomy 14:24-25).

God wants all his children to understand the principle of paying their tithes and offerings. They must understand that it is a commandment, and they must not avoid it. Meanwhile, children of God must also understand that their heavenly Father is not poor, and he does not depend on anyone’s gift to survive. However, God has chosen to test the faithfulness of his children through tithes; he wants them to give him their resources to express their submissions to him. The Creator will respond to people who adequately pay their tithes and offerings with multiple blessings. He will ensure that they do not regret their decisions to obey him.

God please make me an obedient child who duly pays you his/her tithe and offerings. Do not let me be obsessed with material wealth, but enable me to gladly pay you the ten percent (10%) of my income. Please reward my obedience with your plentiful blessings, and let me enjoy your goodness in the land of the living. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
