 1/28/14 BIBLE PASSAGE (Luke 11:29-54)

From Luke:

Jesus Christ could not accommodate the hypocritical behaviors of the Pharisees, so he rebuked them. He said “Now you Pharisees make the outside of the cup and dish clean, but your inward part is full of greed and wickedness. Foolish ones! Did not He who made the outside make the inside also? But rather give alms of such things as you have; then indeed all things are clean to you. “But woe to you Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass by justice and the love of God. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone. Woe to you Pharisees! For you love the best seats in the synagogues and greetings in the marketplaces. Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like graves which are not seen, and the men who walk over them are not aware of them” (Luke 11:39-44).

The message of the cross (which is also known as the message of salvation) is not always pleasant to the audience. Meanwhile, it is God’s message that must be preached to all people so that they can repent from their sins and be saved. Hence, all Christians are commissioned to preach gospel truthfully and fearlessly. We must all preach without selfish goals, and we must preach without any attempt to receive public endorsements. We must preach God’s truths as the Holy Spirit gives us utterances. We must affirm the belief that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, so that people can accept him as their personal Lord and Savior. Also, Christians’ words and expressions must affirm the fact that God demands holiness, and no one can please him without it.

Dear God, please enable me to be a committed Christian who obeys your instructions, and preaches your gospel fearlessly. Empower me through your Holy Spirit to share gospel in a plain language that would convert the sinners, and edify the saints. Please give me grace and turn me to a channel of blessings unto many people – for the sake of your kingdom. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
